Thoughts

Thank you to all those who attended the service and wake I think Mo would have been pleased with the event and heartened by the numbers showing support in person and viewing online. A further thank you for your donations, including the money collected at the service we are over £1,100. Mo supported the homeless work at St.Martins for many years and I joined her one year to attend the AGM for the charity work they did so she will be thrilled to have benefitted them further.

A Poem by Linda Smith Date written: 07.01.2024 - prior to attending Mo's Thanksgiving Service in Barnstaple. Title of poem: Green is the colour Green is the colour we have been asked by Brian to wear. And our many different memories of you Maureen/Mo to share. Our years worshipping at St. Cuthbert's Church, Wolves Lane were many. Including weekly meetings in John and Joyce Moore's front room a plenty. You picked me up in your car many times, for our many lovely walks and talks together. I remember the Ordnance Survey maps, binoculars and muddy boots .................often setting out in poor weather. Your favourite colour being green, that's no surprise at all (for it is mine too) For you loved trees, flowers, gardens and plants I recall. Trips to the local garden centres (e.g. the Dutch Nursery) were for you a treat. Especially if their cafe had something in stock for lunch that you liked to eat. Yes, you often talked of moving from London to North Devon. For you said that a small house by the sea would be heaven. Eventually you moved to Bideford............and so your dream came true. A modern house with a beautiful well-kept garden and from your lounge window.........the most amazing view. You invited me to come and visit. We sat inside (for it was pouring with rain) and made home made Christmas cards. I soon realised that you were better at calligraphy, crafts and cards than me by yards. But the thing that was above all most important to you? Your strong unwavering Christian faith. And to all who met you it shone clearly through. SO MANY LOVELY MEMORIES. RIP MO.

Our lovely friend Mo. She was also a valued colleague at work, both her dry sense of humour and her faith endearing her to us. Thank you for such a beautiful service this morning. So inspiring and knowing it was crafted by Mo making it extra special. Condolences to her family and Brian.
